AI Power at cusp of inflection point

Sun Feb 08 2026

In just one week, we hear

-       Infineon comment capacity tightness for the first time in 9 quarters.

-       MPS expects datacenter segment to grow 50%, raised from original 30-40%.

-       Vanguard comment will negotiate price with AI customers (Renesas, Infineon, MPS)

At beginning of this results season, we also already heard

-       TSMC in conference confirm scaling down mature node, 8” first. Currently TSMC has 100K+ wpm 8” capacity (vs Vanguard now 290K wpm)

-       Samsung also reported by Chosun news to scale down 8”

HVDC need high voltage Si MOSFET of >200V, GaN of 650V+, and in the longer future need SiC for real 800V. While demand is getting stronger than expected thanks to HVDC, 8” supply is actually reducing. AI power use high voltage BCD, .13 and .18 um node, which are not economical at 12”.

We see all AI power suppliers to benefit from this tightness, while those didn't qualify at AI power (eg. only has MOSFET for 100V) would not benefit at the era of Rubin Ultra/TPU v7.
